We've been trying to find you for ages, where have you been?

Firstly let me say GREETINGS DIGITAL BROTHERS and SISTERS OF THE DIGITAL AGE!

Where have I been, well as you know Errol, I'm very much a committed person in what I do, the events I've put on, the articles I wrote for Eternity the dance magazine (as many of your Kinetic readers may remember that I was writing from 1993 to 2000+), my DJ'ing, PA's, laser shows and time in the studio.

So at the turn of the year 2000, I decided to take a deserved rest. I'd been on the road doing all the things I just mentioned for 11 years without a proper break and I'd only had about 8 weekends off in 11 years. So, as I said I decided to be committed to myself and take a break in 2000 as it was needed and as you can imagine, it's been bliss ... Mmm! Because, I'm not a machine, but I did feel as if inside I was becoming and have now come to terms with the fact that I've become an "Intelligent Machine Alien "... Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!

But since 2000, I've have been doing the things I've wanted to do that I didn't have time to do whilst being on the road. I've been travelling across Europe, visiting festivals "Robo Dock" in Holland which was to my taste as it was full of robots of all odd shapes & sizes, a robotic horse was the highlight for me being ridden by someone..! Also Technivals, the best one I enjoyed was in Italy in the mountains of Turin.

It was as mad as f**k with, about 100 sound systems from across Europe banging out tunes for 7 days. I didn't have my records because I've been on a break but, I was pleased to be able to be on the other side of the decks dancing and meeting different nationalities all dancing as one...! But, I was talked into doing some laser shows in Italy over the years that went down well with the Italian crowd. I've just got back from Italy. I was there last week doing a laser show... I was also tracked down last November by someone to do a Sterns reunion which was kooool and since then, I've been asked to do a lot of other dates across the UK so, I guess my rest and break is over and it's time to bring back my madness to the dance scene in the UK once again... I've also got someone working on my new official web site which should be completed by the end of the year!

What makes you so unique and where do you get your ideas from?

My ideas come from life, in all shapes and sizes from anything I see or hear that catches my attention ... For instance, like the laser suit I dance in with my laser shows and use in my PA's that came from a sombrero that a friend brought back from Mexico for me in 1994 ... Let me explain: I was writing articles about Nostradamus for Eternity magazine in 1994 by candle light. The wind blew into the room and made the candle flame flicker. From the corner of my eye I caught the flame reflecting on some of the sequins on the sombrero.

From that I thought, what if I had a suit covered in sequins and it could be amplified by having laser beams firing on me! I realised it would work because I've seen what happens when a laser beam hits a mirror ball and I thought that would be mental to see, so I started to make the suit which took about a month to make. Anyone that's seen the effect and those yet to see it will see how unique it is. A simple idea can be made effective just by some effort, imagination, time and application and it all started and came from Mexico from my friend ... (Nice one Neil).

Also, 2 weeks ago, I had some friends over from Italy "Candi & Silvia". Well Silvia was using a breast pump to extract milk because she had recently had a baby ... The pump was making a great sound as it pumped, I began to laugh. They asked me what was so funny; I told her I'll let you know when you've finished. When she'd finished I asked if I could sample the machine she was using. They just laughed and said yeah of course, so I got out my phone & recorded it. So it's under the word ‘Boob' in my phone, so listen out for a track called Boob in the future...

Where have you enjoyed performing as a DJ & a PA?

My best moments and enjoyment DJ'ing have been in Sheffield as I organised and promoted a night in 1991 called Techno City which ran for 18 months.

I played for 4 hours and was able to unleash lots of different forms and styles of Techno over 4 hours. It allowed me to bring pure insanity to the night to a crowd that really knew how to stomp every week. I used to drop in some features that made the night truly unique.

Like the "BLACK OUT" ... this was lunacy believe me ... The roar you'd hear Black Out happened, sounded as loud as the roar you'd hear at a football match. I hope to do a Techno City Reunion in the near future so listen out for that and come and experience the BLACK OUT.

There was also an almighty club called STERNS. I was living in Sheffield doing Techno City each Friday and I was contacted by the promoter Mensa, to play at Sterns in Worthing near Brighton. I asked him how he'd heard of me because I hadn't put out any flyers or advertised in any magazines down that way. He said "Oh we've all heard of you down here." I made the 10 hour round trip from Sheffield to play there because that place was truly something else and worth every minute it took to get there. Anyone that had DJ'd or stomped there knew just how special it was to be at that place. It was a pleasure to visit, it was truly heaven sent!

To DJ at Club Kinetic in Stoke-on-Trent was always extra kool too, especially the first time when you asked me in 1992. It was great because the 1st time I played there, the crowd didn't know what to expect and they were blown away by my DJ set. Because of you, I was asked to come back on a regular basis!

PA's: My best place was definitely at Club Kinetic. Club Kinetic was the 1st place where I performed my two tracks "TEARS OF THE ACID PUPPET" and "THE TECHNO WAVE" After performing them, someone in the crowd told me that I was the UK's answer to Joey Beltram. I took this as a compliment and it made me realise that I must be doing something right! From then on, the crowd knew I was going to deliver something special ... and of the 3 or 4 PA's that I did there over the years, the atmosphere became more electrifying with each performance and I continued to improve and push the limits with what I could do with the PA at Club Kinetic.

You were a big favourite with the Kinetic crowd why do you think you were so popular?

I think I was a favourite at Club Kinetic because I did everything that wasn't expected from a DJ. I'd push the boundaries and the limits in the speed of some of the tracks I played. Some were played up to 1000 BPM and I played different styles of Techno from labels from all over the world that others dared not play. I'm a risk taker behind the decks and I try to play everything that's not expected and over the years the crowd at Club Kinetic realised that.

When I arrived in town they expected something abnormal and were ready to expand their minds based on what they had heard me play before. I always tried to advance each and every time I was there. I know when I played one of my anthems there the theme from "Old Spice", the roof went off the place ... It was a trademark tune that I was known for. I've played it everywhere that I've ever played and everyone's heard that tune. I don't think I'd be allowed to leave a venue if I didn't play it ... Ha, Ha, Ha!

In 1994, 1995 and 1996 you took your PA 'The Ascid Project' to Club Kinetic. What can we expect from the Ascid Project, your PA's and DJ'ing in the future?

PA's: Expect more of the same ... I'm going to perform the successful tracks again. I know there's many people that would like to see me return to the stage again doing PA's and there is also a New Generation that, have heard about me from the Old Skool crowd (who I am and what I've done), but haven't had the opportunity to see my PA. So, they need to be treated to the sound that I use in my PA "The Sound of a Laser Beam" Once everyone (Old & New Skool) has been treated to it, I'll have a new PA planned for 2010. "THE UFO SHOW" is a new experimental laser show that I've already created in my mind. It should work well visually and will have something new and very ‘Alienonic' about it. As I will be unleashing the "INTELLIGENT MACHINE ALIEN"

DJ'ing Wise: For those of you that know of my T.Z. mix tape collection, I will be taking the T.Z. concept to the next stage of T.Z. 300 and T.Z. 500 in 2010. That will be a challenge for me and a new surprise as well as a challenge for the stompers of the dance scene. I'm very excited about this because as I've said, I look to push boundaries and limits in whatever I do and I hope to take the dance scene in a new direction, (a direction I think it should have gone into a long time ago and should be going into now).

I'm sure a lot of DJ's, Organisers and Ravers will agree with me because, Old Skool is Old Skool ... But if it's played every week, every month and every year, then technically, it's not old because it never went away. Plus, I'm sure there's lots of new music that could be played and enjoyed so the dance scene can move forward.

Music Wise: The release of my long awaited debut album. The interest in my album has been huge but, the interested parties wanted to change me and what I do so, I thought bollocks to them, I'm me and if you don't want me as I am, I'll release them when the time is right. It's now the Digital Age and the www is here so, now I can do it without having to compromise myself. The various labels told me ... IT'S TOO DARK, IT'S TOO HARD, IT'S TOO CONTROVERSIAL - Yes Nostradamus is controversial but millions of people have bought his books and they haven't been banned. Yes Tears of the Acid Puppet is dark and so is the news at times and life! I played Tears of the Acid Puppet to someone I'd booked to play alongside me at one of my events in Sheffield in 1992/1993.

I told him it was a bit dark and when I played it, he said "DAMN, THAT'S NOT DARK MAN ... THAT'S BLACK - CAN I HAVE A COPY! That man was Joey Beltram and if he wanted a copy then it's all good. The art work for the track was drawn for me back in 1992/1993 by Wear. Yes it's dark but it's a great picture with lots of detail if you look closely at it and as I've explained I always like to push the boundaries in what I do and the idea for The UFO Show is going to blow minds all over again. The questions that need to be asked by the Old and New Skool of Kinetic are...

WILL YOU? HAVE YOU? CAN YOU? ARE YOU?

READY FOR THE NEW BOUNDARIES & EXPERIENCES THAT ARE COMING ...
