A name you might have heard in and around the rave scene throughout the years …
Whether it was from an Old Skool Raver reminiscing about one of their best nights out, or a mix that you had come across and downloaded from the internet.
Those of you that were fortunate enough to attend will know that Kinetic was an amazing phenomenon that deserves the following and the respect it had, and still commands today.
After the Leisurebowl in Stoke closed its doors in January 1997, the loyal followers were left trying to find an alternative that would fill the void that Kinetic had left, a night that would give them the vibe and the atmosphere that they had all grown to love.
Unfortunately, this was never achieved and Kinetic became a fond memory in rave history.
Fast forward 11 years to 2008, technology had moved on and the internet had been born.
Whilst using the internet, a few of the ‘old Kinetic crew’ stumbled across the original creator of
Kinetic and Club Kinetic, Errol Russell.
After initial contact and conversations with Errol, the question was asked which all the Kinetic followers wanted to know, “Would or could there ever be another Kinetic event?” Errol was unable to answer this question … a lot of time had passed and the scene had moved on.
In order to gauge the interest surrounding Kinetic, Errol created a Kinetic Promotions group on Facebook and asked the supporters that had approached him, to bring more of the old crew as well as the new to the group to create a central place for those that were interested to remember the good times, the Kinetic vibe and the remarkable atmosphere.
The few that had approached Errol went out and created a presence in the online community, informing all those who were interested that there could be a possibility Kinetic could rise again.
What happened from there was quite simply amazing … The more the word got out about this group the more it grew, the more it grew more and more people asked Errol the same question.
Eventually after many discussions an online promotional e-flyer was designed to gather interest for a Kinetic reunion party. This was released to the same few people that had initially approached Errol about bringing Kinetic back. Again, the promotional e-flyer was posted in and around the online community.
WHAM! Once people got whisper of a possible Kinetic reunion, the word spread like a wild fire. People from the scene that had hung up their shoes once again got that feeling, the love, the passion.
Errol could not ignore this huge following and decided that an event would be hosted and it would be called Kinetic …"The Resurrection."
Errol searched the Midlands for a suitable venue to host this event. Stoke had been taken out of the equation due to the Leisurebowl being knocked down many years before.
The new venue therefore had to be right!
Eventually, a venue was found to host this amazing event.
The venue chosen was The Emporium in Coalville, Leicestershire.
A date was finalized, the line up confirmed and the promotional teams went to work.
This event was going to be massive.
Throughout the process of finding the venue and choosing the line up, Errol had included the whole online community. For the first time ever, the Ravers had been given a voice to choose the DJs they wanted to hear and to help with various aspects of promotion and advertising this event.
Empowered, the ravers came out in force to promote this event and to ensure the night would be a success. With all this help from the Ravers themselves and their inclusion throughout the process of this amazing Resurrection, Kinetic had come back bigger and stronger then ever.
With the family once again reunited, it was Time!
On the 12th July 2008, Kinetic once again opened the doors,
this time at The Emporium, with a new lease of life.
The line up for this event was to include as many of the DJs that had played Kinetic
between 1992 and 1997. The final line up saw the likes of:
Mark E G
Top Buzz
Pilgrim
Tango & Ratty
Stu Allan
Brisk
Stoney
Slipmatt
Hellfire
Phantasy
Mental Mayhem
Nicky Blackmarket
Jay Prescott
Loftgroover
The DJ Producer
Daz Willott
Barefoot Raver
All were brought back for this amazing party. The party people, old and new gathered once again and the Kinetic brand was brought back in grand style.
That night, it seemed as if it was once again the 1990s. The people were happy, dancing and loving the atmosphere. The club, the decor, the DJ’s, the people and the atmosphere all fitted together like the pieces of a jigsaw. The comments left by the party crew after this huge event have been absolutely unbelievable; it was almost as if life had been breathed once more into Kinetic and its followers and it is true that LEGENDS NEVER DIE. Kinetic Promotions are now in the process of unveiling their next event which will be KINETIC … “The Next Chapter.” Kinetic again hopes to see both the old and the new crews in attendance.
